Vincent Gonzales with his family at the Everest Value School Groundbreaking. When asked why he joined the Board in 2012 and why he took on the role of Board Chair, Vincent Gonzales shared, “I saw a lot of myself in these students. I, too, was a first-generation college student and graduate. I understand the apprehension families have about paying for higher education and the struggles students deal with as they consider leaving their families to attend college. The foundation of the school is our values. Our message to students is to have the courage to forge a new trail, but never forget their family and always give back to the community.”

Erika Martinez-Scott with her daughter, Kamille, who graduated from Downtown Value and University Prep Value, currently attending UC Santa Barbara. When asked why she serves, Erika Martinez-Scott, a School Board member since 2015, shared, “As a parent of two students at Value Schools, it was my way to give back for all that the schools did for my daughters. I believe every child deserves an opportunity to do better and have their dreams come true. At Value Schools, students can be themselves, dream and begin to change the world. We give students the tools to be confident, strong, and the ability to fulfill their dreams.”

Grant Cambridge with students and educators on the Back East Scholars Trip (BEST).Grant Cambridge, our proud leader since 2007, expressed, “At Value Schools, there are so many ways to introduce students to different life experiences. A common thread for my wife’s and my philanthropy is to try and broaden people’s horizons. I want our students to have the vision to attend the best school possible, and then thrive there. I really believe the goal in our values-based education is to develop not only good students, but scholars and well-rounded individuals.”
