In June, Capital Group associate Uma Kommineni organized an immersive, full-day Career Exploration experience, helping our students gain valuable insights into investment management, resume building, interviewing skills, and self-advocacy strategies.

The Back East Scholars Trip (BEST) was initiated in 2013 by Board Chair Grant Cambridge. He noticed many of our graduating seniors chose not to attend college. A small percentage enrolled in local state institutions. Students didn’t feel they had access to schools beyond Los Angeles, and certainly not schools on the other side of the country. Prestigious schools like Harvard, MIT, Brown, or Columbia weren't considered.

In June 2024, Value Schools had much to celebrate! We’re especially proud of all our graduates who have completed their high school career and are now moving on to their next educational challenge. Our graduates have worked diligently and fulfilled their dreams. Some of our graduates are attending prestigious universities such as Cornell University, Dartmouth College, UCLA, and UC Berkeley, just to name a few.

We are thrilled to share some exciting updates and developments at Value Schools, made possible through the generous support of our donors and community members. Your contributions have been instrumental in enhancing our professional development programs and fostering a thriving educational environment for our students and staff.

The CARRY Foundation and Value Schools Foundation in Action!

Linda Gunn and her team at Gunn/Jerkens Marketing and Communications continued their valuable engagement with our students from Value Schools. In April, Linda and her team led a session on "creating a brand" at their office in Long Beach, fostering both learning and inspiration.

With a flurry of opportunities for our students both on and off campus, we are immersed in a series of enriching experiences that empower our students of all ages to realize their fullest potential. Thanks to our generous donors, our students continue to live the values through these life-changing opportunities.

Celebrating another year of student empowerment! We are proud to have provided exceptional values-based education for the youth of Los Angeles for more than twenty years.

This time of year marks a pivotal moment for our seniors as they navigate the challenges of college applications. With only one semester of high school remaining, they have a palpable sense of anticipation. What will life look like after high school?

Thanks to a generous gift from the Ahmanson Foundation, we have completed the breathtaking play space at Everest Value School. This new turf ensures that students from Everest Value and Central City Value can now fully utilize the soccer field in an exhilarating way.
